The complex issues of climate change adaptation in the Baltic Sea region most often range across sectors and disciplines. In consequence, climate data is used by stakeholders with diverse backgrounds in both natural and social sciences, which makes the coordination of tools and concepts increasingly complex. Moreover, existing service tools and networks are often implemented at national level but do not provide sufficient data at regional scales. However, detailed data is required by diverse users in the region's nations in order to implement adequate adaptation measures, for example in coastal engineering, agriculture and tourism.
