Strategies in handling the regional effects of the climate change gain increasingly in importance. From there, the city of Dresden takes part together with regional partners from economics and science in the research project for an integrated regional climate change adaptation programme for the Model Region of Dresden - short: REGKLAM. REGKLAM provides tangible options for three key areas of action, which are most important for the further development of the region: the urban structures, the supply and disposal infrastructure with the focus on drinking and waste water management, and urban and rural land uses.
REGKLAM provides tangible options for three key areas of action, which are most important for the further development of the region: the urban structures, the supply and disposal infrastructure with the focus on drinking and waste water management, and urban and rural land uses.
The contribution of REGKLAM is described by three main areas of support for the development and implementation of adaptation strategies:
1. The development of an action- and implementation oriented Integrated Regional Climate Change Adaptation Programme (IRKAP), including all fields of adaptation identified by the region and the municipalities.
2. The initiation and support of key projects and additional adaptation measures by the stakeholders.
3. The advancement and consolidation of the regional actor network.
REGKLAM is realised by seven main partners from the fields of research, public administration and public services. Additionally, a number of institutions and private companies are involved as associated partners and subcontractors including ministries, regional land user associations, specialised services and single companies or firms. The management of REGKLAM is the base for a close network of regional decision-makers and responsibles.
